AILET 2027 Exam Date and Time
AILET 2027 will be held on Sunday 13 December 2026 from 2 PM to 4 PM as one paper of two hours in a single sitting at centres all over India and there is no second slot
The exam is for two courses at NLU Delhi which are the five year BA LLB Hons that students join after Class 12 and the one year LLM for students who already have a law degree and both papers happen on the same day
Keep three things in mind about this date
It is an afternoon paper so your mind needs to be at its best between 2 PM and 4 PM
It is a Sunday so roads may be lighter but traffic near big campuses can still be slow
It comes one week after CLAT which is on 6 December 2026 so you get exactly seven days between the two papers
If you only practise in the morning then start moving your mock tests to the afternoon now and we explain how to use the week after CLAT further down
Why an exam in 2026 is called AILET 2027
This confuses a lot of students so let us clear it up because NLU Delhi names each AILET after the year in which students join college and since you write the exam in December 2026 and start your course in the 2027 session it is called AILET 2027
This is also why so many students search for the AILET exam date 2026 because the exam is happening in 2026 and it feels natural to search with that year so if that is what you searched then the date you need is the same one which is 13 December 2026
The exam called AILET 2026 was a different one that was held on 14 December 2025 and its results are already out
So whether you type AILET 2027 exam date or AILET exam date 2027 or AILET exam date 2026 or just AILET exam date the answer for this year is the same and the paper is on Sunday 13 December 2026 from 2 PM to 4 PM
AILET 2027 exam kab hai
AILET 2027 ki pariksha 13 December 2026 Ravivar ko dopahar 2 baje se 4 baje tak hogi aur form bharne ki aakhri tareekh 10 November 2026 hai jabki admit card 30 November 2026 se milega
Your Countdown From Today to 13 December
Knowing the date is one thing but using the weeks before it well is another so here is a simple countdown from today 22 October 2026 to exam day
When | What to do |
Now to 3 November | Fill and submit your AILET form and keep the confirmation page safe and take one AILET mock every week at 2 PM |
10 November | Last date to apply and if you miss it you miss AILET 2027 |
11 to 13 November | Correction window so log in and check every detail on your form and fix anything that is wrong |
14 to 29 November | Take two full mocks a week with one for CLAT and one for AILET and spend extra time on logical reasoning |
30 November | Admit card day so download it and check it and print two copies |
1 to 5 December | Focus on CLAT and revise and rest well and avoid new topics |
6 December | CLAT 2027 from 2 PM to 4 PM |
7 to 12 December | Switch to AILET and follow the seven day plan given further down |
13 December | AILET 2027 from 2 PM to 4 PM |
The correction window dates come from the NLU Delhi rule that it stays open for three days after the last date and NLU Delhi will confirm the exact days on its website
For the CLAT mocks in this plan the best practice is the real thing so use our CLAT previous year papers to sit past papers under exam conditions

In Which Month Is AILET Held
AILET is held in December on a Sunday in the first half of the month and the last three exams show a clear pattern
Exam | Date | Day |
AILET 2027 | 13 December 2026 | Sunday |
AILET 2026 | 14 December 2025 | Sunday |
AILET 2025 | 8 December 2024 | Sunday |
AILET 2026 was first planned for 7 December 2025 but NLU Delhi moved it to 14 December so that it would not clash with CLAT
This year the gap is planned from the start with CLAT on 6 December and AILET on 13 December which is good news because you do not have to choose between the two exams
AILET 2027 Registration Last Date
The AILET 2027 registration last date is 10 November 2026 so you must fill the form and pay the fee before this date and as we write this on 22 October you have 19 days left
Many students search for the AILET 2026 registration last date or the last date for AILET registration 2026 for the same naming reason we explained above because registration for AILET 2027 is happening in 2026
So if you are applying now the date you need is 10 November 2026 while the registration for the exam called AILET 2026 closed on 13 November 2025
Registration detail | AILET 2027 |
Form opened | 7 August 2026 |
AILET form last date | 10 November 2026 |
Correction window | 3 days after the last date |
Where to apply | Online only on the NLU Delhi website |
AILET application fee
Rs 3000 for General and OBC and EWS students
Rs 1000 for SC and ST and PwD students
No fee for SC and ST students and women students from families below the poverty line
Some websites still show the old fee of Rs 3500 but that fee is out of date
Who can apply for the BA LLB
You need at least 45 percent in Class 12
It is 42 percent for OBC students and 40 percent for SC and ST and PwD students
Students who are in Class 12 right now can also apply if they pass with the needed marks by the date NLU Delhi sets
There is no age limit
A tip from our classroom is to never wait for the last two days because payment pages get slow when thousands of students try to pay at once so try to finish your form at least a week early and keep a printout of your confirmation page
For the full AILET 2027 schedule from notice to admission read our AILET 2027 notification guide
CLAT and AILET 2027 Are One Week Apart
Most students who write AILET also write CLAT and this year the two exams are exactly one week apart and both start at 2 PM so here is how they compare
Point | CLAT 2027 | AILET 2027 |
Exam date | Sunday 6 December 2026 | Sunday 13 December 2026 |
Exam time | 2 PM to 4 PM | 2 PM to 4 PM |
Who runs it | Consortium of National Law Universities | National Law University Delhi |
Colleges | Many National Law Universities | Only NLU Delhi |
Questions | 120 | 150 |
Sections | 5 with basic maths | 3 with no maths |
Last date to apply | 31 October 2026 | 10 November 2026 |
The biggest difference is inside the paper because CLAT has five sections including basic maths while AILET has only three
To see the CLAT side in detail look at the CLAT 2027 exam pattern and the CLAT 2027 syllabus and for a full side by side look at both exams including colleges and seats and difficulty read our CLAT vs AILET 2027 guide
Should you write both CLAT and AILET
For most students who want a National Law University the answer is yes because CLAT opens the door to many NLUs while AILET is the only way into NLU Delhi so writing both gives you two chances instead of one
The two papers also test similar skills like fast reading and clear reasoning and current affairs so the work you do for one helps with the other
The only real cost is one more form fee and one more exam day so if money is tight then talk to your teachers about your mock scores before you decide
But if your scores are close to what NLU Delhi usually needs then skipping AILET to save Rs 3000 is rarely a good trade and the week between the two papers is short but it is enough if you plan it well
You can read our full guide on the CLAT 2027 exam date if you are writing both
How to use the seven days between CLAT and AILET
The week after CLAT is where many students lose focus because some feel too tired to study while others feel upset about one tough section and spend the whole week worrying so here is a simple plan you can follow
Day | Date | What to do |
Day 1 | Monday 7 December | Rest and do not check answer keys all day and sleep early |
Day 2 | Tuesday 8 December | Take one full AILET mock at 2 PM and notice how the longer paper feels |
Day 3 | Wednesday 9 December | Go through the mock and practise only logical reasoning which is almost half the paper |
Day 4 | Thursday 10 December | Take a second full mock at 2 PM and work on your speed |
Day 5 | Friday 11 December | Go through the mock and revise current affairs from your own notes |
Day 6 | Saturday 12 December | Light revision only and print your admit card again and pack your bag and sleep early |
Day 7 | Sunday 13 December | AILET day so follow the exam day plan below |
The big change from CLAT to AILET is speed because CLAT gives you about one minute for each question while AILET gives you less than that so the two mocks in this week are there to bring your pace back up
AILET 2027 Exam Pattern
The BA LLB paper has 150 questions to solve in 120 minutes and each right answer gets 1 mark while each wrong answer loses one fourth of a mark and NLU Delhi lists the paper like this
Section | Questions | Marks |
English Language | 50 | 50 |
Current Affairs and General Knowledge | 30 | 30 |
Logical Reasoning | 70 | 70 |
Total | 150 | 150 |
A few things to know about this pattern
There is no maths section and no separate legal section and while Logical Reasoning can use legal rules you do not need to know any law beforehand
Logical Reasoning is almost half the paper with 70 of the 150 questions so this section decides most ranks
Ties matter because if two students get the same marks the one with more marks in Logical Reasoning ranks higher
If that is also equal then the older student ranks higher and if they are still tied a computer draw decides
For the full list of topics see our AILET syllabus guide and to practise at the real pace join our AILET coaching where the mocks follow the same 150 question pattern
How to Use Your 120 Minutes in AILET
With 150 questions in 120 minutes you get about 48 seconds for each question which is tight so you need a plan before you walk in and here is the time split we suggest at Clat Coaching
Part of the paper | Minutes | Questions |
Check the booklet and fill in your details | 3 | None |
English Language | 37 | 50 |
Current Affairs and General Knowledge | 12 | 30 |
Logical Reasoning | 60 | 70 |
Go back to questions you marked | 8 | Any |
How to stick to it
Know your check points so that English is done in the first 40 minutes and General Knowledge is done by the 52 minute mark
Leave 8 minutes at the end which means Logical Reasoning should be done when 8 minutes are left on the clock
Do GK fast because you either know a current affairs answer or you do not so spend no more than 20 to 25 seconds on each one
Give Logical Reasoning its full hour because this is where most marks are and where ties are decided
Fill your answer sheet as you go after each passage or set so you do not run out of time at the end
Skip instead of guessing blindly because one fourth of a mark is lost for every wrong answer
If English is your strongest section you can start with Logical Reasoning while your mind is fresh but just decide your order well before exam day and then practise it in at least four mock tests
AILET 2027 Exam Centres
AILET is held in 33 cities across India including Delhi and Bengaluru and Mumbai and Hyderabad and Kolkata and Lucknow and Jaipur and when you fill the form you can choose up to three cities in order of preference
Two rules from NLU Delhi are worth knowing
A city needs at least 200 students and if fewer than 200 students choose a city no centre is set up there
Those students get their second or third choice instead
The centre is not promised because NLU Delhi tries to give you one of your choices but can give you another centre for official reasons
So choose your three cities with care and if you live in Delhi NCR then Delhi is the clear first choice while your second and third choices should be places you could really reach by noon on a Sunday
Your AILET Exam Day Plan
Since the paper starts at 2 PM here is how we suggest you plan 13 December
Time | What to do |
8 AM | Wake up at your usual time and eat a normal breakfast |
9 AM to half past 10 | Light revision only with your current affairs notes and two short reasoning sets and no full mock |
Half past 10 | Pack your bag using the list below |
11 AM | Eat a light lunch that you eat often |
Half past 11 | Leave home based on how far your centre is |
Half past 12 | Reach the centre area so you have a 30 minute cushion |
1 PM | Reporting time so enter the centre |
Half past 1 | Enter the exam hall and find your seat |
2 PM | The paper starts |
Quarter past 2 | Last entry and nobody is let in after this |
4 PM | The paper ends so stop writing and hand in your OMR sheet |
These times are based on how the last AILET was run when students had to report one hour before the paper and the hall opened at half past 1 and entry closed at quarter past 2
Your 2027 admit card will show the exact times for your centre so follow it if anything is different and remember that even though entry stays open until quarter past 2 anyone who walks in late loses those minutes from their own paper
What to carry
Your printed admit card
An original photo ID card such as Aadhaar or PAN card or passport or driving licence
A passport size photograph
Blue or black ball pens
A clear water bottle
A regular watch with hands if you want to track time yourself
Your disability certificate if you are a PwD student
What to leave behind
Mobile phones and smart watches and digital watches
Earphones and calculators
Books and notes and bags and wallets
Jewellery and metal items
At 4 PM stop writing straight away and wait in your seat because you can leave only after the invigilator has collected every OMR sheet in the room and you must never take your OMR sheet out of the hall
If you can then visit your centre a few days before the exam because many centres are inside big campuses with more than one gate and knowing the right gate can save you 20 minutes of worry on the day
Extra time for PwD students
Under the PwD rules NLU Delhi has used in recent AILET exams eligible students with a disability get 40 extra minutes which means they write for 2 hours and 40 minutes in total
Students who need a scribe can bring their own or ask NLU Delhi for one through their login and they must send the scribe documents by the date NLU Delhi sets
Carry your valid disability certificate on exam day and keep an eye on the NLU Delhi website where the exact rules for AILET 2027 will be shared
AILET 2027 Admit Card
The AILET 2027 admit card will be ready from 30 November 2026 and you can download it by logging in to your account on the NLU Delhi website with the same details you used to register
Once you download it check these things straight away
Your name and photo and signature are right and clear
Your exam centre address is the one you will travel to
The reporting time and entry rules are noted down
Print two copies and keep one in your bag from the night before and one at home as a spare
Last year NLU Delhi put out the admit card four days earlier than planned so start checking your login from the last week of November
What Happens After the Exam
Last year NLU Delhi moved very fast because the first answer key came out on the evening of exam day and students could raise objections until noon two days later and the result came out on 18 December 2025 which was just four days after the exam
If the same pattern holds this year then expect the first answer key on the evening of 13 December 2026 and the result in the third week of December with counselling and admission rounds after that
NLU Delhi will share each date on its website so check it every day after the exam
Six Date and Timing Mistakes AILET Students Make
We see the same mistakes every year and each one is easy to avoid if you know about it early
Reading an old page because many websites still show last year's dates or the old fee so if a page does not say 13 December 2026 and 10 November 2026 then close it
Mixing up the year in the name because students think AILET 2026 is the exam coming up and end up reading about last year's paper
Applying for CLAT and forgetting AILET because CLAT closes on 31 October and AILET on 10 November so set a phone reminder for 5 November today
Using CLAT speed in AILET because AILET has 30 more questions in the same two hours
Picking exam cities without thinking because a city with fewer than 200 students gets no centre and you get moved
Skipping the correction window because a wrong category or a blurry photo can cause trouble later so check your form in the three days after 10 November
AILET and AIET Are Different Exams
Some students search for AIET thinking it is a short form of AILET but it is not because AIET is the All India Entrance Test which is a separate NLU Delhi exam for some special master's courses and the PhD and it is planned for 2 May 2027
If you want to join the five year BA LLB at NLU Delhi then the exam you need is AILET on 13 December 2026
